THE SIX TERRACES
Comprised of six levels, The Terraces stretch across several acres of meticulously designed landscape, originally crafted in the 1840s by the then owner, Captain Alexander Hamilton Boykin. These beautifully tiered gardens feature idyllic walkways, tranquil fountains, and winding trails, offering a serene space to enjoy the stunning array of flowers, trees, and natural beauty that define the landscape.
Finest in the Region since 1817
The Terraces at Plane Hill is also an outstanding surviving example of mid-nineteenth century, Greek Revival architecture in southern Kershaw County, as well as noteworthy for its impressive, terraced gardens—generally regarded as the finest in the region and often referred to as The Terraces. Both the house and the gardens retain an impressive degree of integrity, despite the multiple owners and varied uses of the property from 1817 to the present.
